The Nail Lounge takes clean so seriously that we go above and beyond what the state of California requires for nail salons. Our cleanliness and sterilization procedures are the highest available today.
Being this clean is a much more expensive way to provide nail services than you will find at the average salon. But all of us here at The Nail Lounge believe very strongly that your safety should always come first and is much more important than saving a few dollars. And we hope you do too!
That's why we take each one of the steps below ~ to make sure you enjoy Good Clean Fun every time you get pampered at The Nail Lounge. We believe your safety and peace of mind is worth it!
To be able to accomplish all we do to stay clean and safe ~ we have our wonderful Prep Staff! They are the ones preparing and bringing your nail pros your pedicure tubs, cleaning, scrubbing, disenfecting, and sterilizing all the tools (this is a full time job all by itself). And, running around providing your nail pro with anything they need to make your visit to the Nail Lounge fun & enjoyable. We couldn't do all we do without them! Please say "Hello" to them the next time you are in. And let them know how much you appreciate all the great work they do.
All Hands are Washed and Disinfected
Before each service all of our nail pros wash and disinfect their hands. And each client is required to do the same.
This simple and easy step helps prevent the spread of common germs. During a manicure or pedicure treatment we have
latex gloves available for our nail pros to wear if you would like them to. Just ask if you prefer them.
This is not mandated by the state, but we feel this option further adds to the clean and healthy environment at The Nail Lounge. Simple, easy, but oh so important.
All Stainless Steel Tools are Sterilized in a Autoclave and Sealed in Disposable Sterilization Pouches
At The Nail Lounge we set ourselves apart from other nail salons by ensuring that every single stainless steel tool is:
Scrubbed and cleaned with disinfectant soap and water, then totally immersed and soaked in a EPA-registered disinfectant germacide solution, and then sterilized in a special dry heat-sterilization unit called an “Autoclave” between services.
Autoclaving is the highest level of sterilization, and is standard procedure at dental and medical facilities in the U.S. (in accordance with AMA, FDA and EPA guidelines).
As soon as the stainless steel tools are removed from the autoclave, they are
sealed in disposable Sterilization Pouches. These are the same Sterilization Pouches dentists use. Our sanitized tools are opened from their protective pouches when we begin your manicure or pedicure, and the pouches are thrown away.
We Only Use Brand New Nail Files, Birchwood Sticks, and File Abrasives for Each Manicure and Pedicure You Receive ~ and After One Use We Throw Them All Away
We are sticklers (obsessed really!) for clean and safe ... so we only use Flowery Professional individualy wrapped D-Files nail files, and Flowery Professional individualy wrapped D-Files 5-Second Competition Buffers on your nails.
For our Lounge Pedicure and Lounge Luxury Pedicure, we only use the Flowery award winning Swedish Clover Foot File System. This is the creme de la creme of pedicure products! This Swedish Clover System uses individually applied self-adhesive abrasive Foot File Pads. Every client gets new abrasive pads that are thrown away after every use. The Swedish Clover handle then gets scrubbed and cleaned with disinfectant soap and water, then totally immersed and soaked in a EPA-registered disinfectant germacide solution.
For All Pedicures The Nail Lounge uses Belava Footbath Tubs with Disposable Liners
For every pedicure at The Nail Lounge, we use the award winning Belava Footbath Tubs fitted with a disposable Belava Tub Liner that is thrown away after every warm soothing soak. Disposable Belava Tub liners prevent the spread of bacteria, fungus, and other infectuous diseases. This is the safest and most sanitary way for you to enjoy your pedicure. Clean, safe, and fun!
At The Nail Lounge we don’t believe in, or use, “Spa Chairs” due to their alarming history of causing infections, boils, scarring, skin irritations, and allergies.
Spa Chairs and whirlpool type footbaths are a breeding ground for Microbacterium Fortuitum bacteria that cause boils and scarring on the legs.
This is why in 2001 The Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta Georgia issued a warning against them. These serious skin infections can develop if the filters on "Spa Chairs" are not cleaned and disinfected after each and every service. In California alone, there have been serious skin infection outbreaks in 2000, 2004, and 2005. These outbreaks resulted in infectious boils and scarring on the legs due to whirlpool type "Spa Chairs" being contaminated with Microbacterium Fortuitum from not being properly cleaned and disinfected. And one person has died in California from the infection caused from a "Spa Chair."
Our feeling is “Why take such a huge risk” of using a "Spa Chair" when there is a clean, sanitary, and safe way for a fabulous pedicure? The Belava Disposable Pedicure Tub Liner ~ clean, safe, and always fun at The Nail Lounge.
All Tables, Counters, and Pedicure Stations are Disinfected Regularly
We clean all the tables, counters, and pedicure stations throughout the day with a germicidal cleaner to kill bacteria and prevent the spread of germs.
We Don’t Do Acrylics
At The Nail Lounge we don’t do acrylic nails simply because they are not good for you. They destroy your nail beds, making nails thin, brittle and dry. Plus, most artificial nails are made with dangerous chemicals. This is the reason why they are not recommended during pregnancy. Technicians wear masks when they apply or fill them because of all that dangerous dust. And the smell is dreadful!
Our environment is much cleaner & safer, and your nails are much happier without acrylics. This makes our enviroment inside The Nail Lounge so much better. You can breath ~ we can breath. We like that! And you will too!!!
With our 10-Step Program for Acryliholics we will gently remove your artificial nails and help you grow your natural nails strong and beautiful. When you call for your appointment, just tell our receptionist to schedule you for the 10-Step Program. We'll get you recovered in no time! (but not like that old sofa your mom wants you to get recovered - ours is much much better!)
